Mechanical engineering is a diverse area that brings many disciplines of engineering together. Mechanical engineers create machines as well as sophisticated computer controlled robots, ships and aircraft, plants and specialized devices for disabled people, develop advanced technology to protect the environment, and much more.

Mechanical Engineering is so broad, that you can follow your own special interests and reach your full personal potential. Mechanical engineers work in a broad range of professions and in almost all industries. Mechanical engineering principles and skills are needed at some stage during the conception, design, development, and manufacture of every human-made object with moving parts. Many innovations crucial to our future will have their roots in the world of mass, motion, forces, and energy: the world of Mechanical engineers.

The Mechanical Engineering Department carries out its mission with a focus on various areas and our faculties make a dedicated group of engineering professionals. The department has undergone substantial developments and we remain committed to continual improvement in our educational process. We also work with the aim of excellence in engineering and our service to society, in turn to the nation.

VISSION:

To set a standard for excellence in Mechanical Engineering education by instilling teaching and practice with an interdisciplinary perspective and greater understanding of the impact of technology on society.

Objectives of department

  • To produce graduates having strong background in basic sciences and mathematics to synthesize data and technical concepts for conducting research and to desing products useful to society.
  • To produce graduates having the necessary background and technical skills to work professionals on the following areas: Thermal Engineering, Machine Design, metallurgy and Material Science, Mechanics of the Solids, CAD/CAM and Industrial Management.
  • To prepare students for their professional career through development of communication, managerial and entrepreneur skill and produce professionally responsible graduates with social commitment.
  • To expose students to hands-on experience through the laboratory sessions, design of project works and make then adaptive to changing technology by using interdisciplinary engineering concepts and software tools.

Program Educational Objectives:

  • Impart knowledge of mathematics, basic and applied sciences.
  • Ability to identify, formulate and solve mechanical engineering problems based on data interpretation, design, experiment and analysis of results.
  • Learn effective engineering communication.
  • Ability to work in teams on multi-disciplinary projects in industry and research organizations.
  • Develop awareness of the ethical, professional and environmental implications of work in a global and societal context.
  • Ability to self-learn modern engineering tools, techniques, skills and contemporary engineering practice, necessary for engineering work.

Program Outcomes:

The students of Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering will have the ability to

  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
  • Design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  • Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
  • Function on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Identify, formulate and solve engineering problems.
  • Understand professional and ethical responsibility.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental and societal context.

  • Use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
