NCC

Chirala Engineering College is committed towards social and national responsibilities; bearing this in mind we have raised the NCC wing. We believe that an individual will possess an adoring personality only by integrating him/her in activities like NCC.

 Chirala Engineering College is equipped with several infrastructural facilities  for NCC training programme and provides ample opportunities to the cadets by way of conducting firing camps, drill practices, personality development and voluntary service programmes.

The objective and vision of our NCC wing is to create awareness among the student community regarding its importance towards nation building. Besides an NCC cadet is presented with a plethora of job opportunities in reputed government and public sector concerns. We have in mind to train students towards participating in republic day parade and peoples exchange programme. CEC NCC wing fine tunes the personality of a person in total and equips him mentally to face various challenges that he may encounter in his life.

National Cadet Corps in Our College was started in 2008. The NCC of this Institution has a strong alumni base, most of them occupying coveted positions in many public services,educational, industrial, defence and research organizations all over the world. The NCC of our college has long record of meritorious contribution; the Tamilnadu contigent has won Republic Day and Independence Day awards due to the contribution by our Cadets.NCC activities in our college have evoked much enthusiasm among the students.At present , there are Five Wings in our college comprising of about 278 cadets who are actively indulging in all NCC activities to make our college and our Nation proud.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a youth development movement. It has enormous potential for nation building. The NCC provides opportunities to the youth of the country for their all-round development with a sense of Duty, Commitment, Dedication, Discipline and Moral Values so that they become able leaders and useful citizens. The NCC provides exposure to the cadets in a wide range of activities., with a distinct emphasis on Social Services, Discipline and Adventure Training. The NCC is open to all regular students of schools and colleges on a voluntary basis. The students have no liability for active military service.

Cadets will be selected in NCC based upon their Physical fitness, Knowledge, Ability and their determination. Selected cadets will undergo 2 years training and they will be taught on various related in infantry subjects, which includes,

                     1.Introduction to map and conventional signs
                     2.Scales
                     3.Topographical forms and technical terms
                     4.The grid system
                     5.Relief contours and gradients
                     6.Cardinal points and finding north
                     7.Type of bearings and use of service protractor
                     8.Prismatic compass, its use and introduction to gps
                     9.Setting a map, finding own position and north
                     10.Map to ground
                     11.Ground to map
                     12.Point to point march

 

Eligibilities for Certificate Examination:

For "A" Certificate Examination(Junior Division)

  • Must be in Second year of NCC
  • Must have attended an Annual Training Camp
  • The candidate must have attended a minimum of 75% of total Training periods laid down in the syllabus for the first and second years of Junior Division/Wing NCC(All wings)
  • Break in the NCC Service of the cadet prior to his appearing. In the examination 'should not exceed more than 12 month at one time, to count his previous service. In case the break exceeds 12 months, the following procedure will be adopted ."If he has been on the unit rolls for a minimum of two years before his discharge and had attended 75% of the total period during his NCC Service he will need another 45 periods of training to become eligible for certificate 'A' examination. In all other cases where above conditions are not fulfilled, the cadet must attend a minimum of 75% periods of the first and second year of training".

 For "B" Certificate Examination(Senior Division)

  • he Cadet must be in second year of SD/SW NCC Training
  • Must have attended one Annual Training Camp/NIC/Attachment training with regular Army, Navy, Air Force Units.
  • Cadets possessing 'A' Certificate will be awarded 10 bonus marks.
  • The cadet must have attended a minimum of 75% of total training period laid down in the syllabus for the first and second years for Senior Division Wing NCC (All Wings). Break in the NCC service of the cadet SD/SE prior to appearing in the exam should not exceed more than 18 months at one time, after his discharge to count his service for Certificate 'B' Examination. In case the break exceed 18 months the following procedure will be adopted.

    "If he had been on the unit rolls for a minimum of two years before his discharge and had attended 75% of the total periods during his NCC service he will need another 45 periods of training to become eligible for certificate 'B' Examination. In all other cases where above conditions are not fulfilled, the cadet must attend a minimum 75% periods of the first and second years of training."
  • An Air Wing Cadet must do a minimum of 10 Glide launches.

For "C" Certificate Examination(Senior Division)

  • Cadet must have passsed 'B' certificate.
  • The Cadet must be in second/third year of SD/SW NCC Training
  • The Cadet must have attended a minimum of 75% of the periods of 3rd year syllabus during the academic session.
  • Break in the NCC Service of the SD/SW Cadet prior to appearing in the exam should not exceed more than 18 months at one time, after his discharge to count his previous service for Certificate 'C' examination. In case the break exceeds 18 months, the following procedure will be adopted

    "If he had been on the Unit rolls for a minimum of two years before his discharge and had attended 75% of the total period during his NCC service, he will need another 45 periods of training to become eligible for Certificate 'C' examination. In all other cases where above conditions are not fulfilled, the Cadet must attend a minimum of 75% periods of the first and second year of training."
  • Must have attended two Camp.
